| Measuring for Shower Curtains |
|
A standard custom made shower curtain measures 72" x 72". Most standard tub openings are 60" or 66" and the standard shower curtain works well for both sizes. However, with today's larger scale construction techniques, there is large demand for extra long shower curtains and/or extra wide shower curtains. If you find yourself in this situation, we have the solution for you. Below are some tips on how to decide the right size for you.
|
| Extra Long Shower Curtain |
- To get an accurate measurement, you must have your shower rod installed and the hooks you plan to use.
- Attached one hook to the rod
- Measure from the lowest point on the hook (where it will go through the button hole or grommet) to the floor. This is your "Gross Length"
- The button hole or grommet on the shower curtain header is approximately 1/2" down from the top edge of the curtain. This will give you approximately 1/2" clearance off the floor when it is installed.
- We recommend that your shower curtain NOT rest on the floor. You may want to raise your curtain higher off the floor more than the 1/2" or so that will naturally occur with the button hole. The clearance you decide will depend your unique situation.
- For your final measurement, take the Gross Length and subtract your desired floor clearance and that is the number you will order on our web site.
- Example: Gross Length = 92" Desired Clearance 2" (92"- 2" = 90"). Remember you will get another 1/2" or so clearance from the button hole position. In this example, you would order a 90" long curtain.

| Extra Wide Shower Curtain |
- Measure the width of your shower or bath opening. This is your "Net Width".
- If you have a claw foot tub, you will need to measure the shower rod to determine your Net Width.
- You then must decide how much additional width you need to create a more "full look" to your curtain. You don't want it to be the same width as your Net Width, because it will have a very flat appearance when you have it closed. Our recommendation is to add a minimum of 20% fullness (extra fabric) to your Net Width.
- Example: Net Width = 98" * 1.15 = 118". You can decide how much extra fullness you desire on your finished shower curtain.
