Measuring for Pole Mounted Swags
Swag and Jabot combination looks best for outside mounting. The Jabots frame the window nicely, which will be lost on an inside mount. We haven't included inside mounting instructions here for that reason.
Width Measuring
Measuring for a rod mounted swag is very simple. You need to measure the casing-to-casing width of your window width plus 4" (2" each side). That will be the length of your pole. This will allow your jabots to completely cover the outside edge of the window casing (molding), which is the correct installation. There is also a little trick to get a really beautiful hardware installation. You should mount your decorative hardware brackets on the wall above the window casing and behind where the jabots (cascades) are located. This will completely conceal the brackets from view just like the installation you see at the bottom of the page. The brackets are hidden behind the jabots.

Height Positioning
When mounting a pole swag, you want to completely cover the top of the window casing with your swag and jabots.  Notice in the image below that you don't see any window casing show through the top of the swags.  All you see is the wall color showing.  If the casing was to show, the background would look very busy.  This is the correct way to install a swag and jabot combination.

We recommend that you install your swag on the pole before you install the brackets on the wall.  With help, you can hold the pole on the window and position it exactly the where you want.  Mark for the brackets and securely attach them to the wall.  It's a very easy installation.
