Extra Long Shower Curtain
Custom Shower Curtains are the only way the you can achieve extra long shower curtains and extra wide shower curtains to get a beautiful look for your bathroom.  We get thousands of visitors each day searching for long shower curtains since the shower curtains and shower curtain liners that you buy at the store, just don’t look right.
The standard size for a shower curtain, store bought is 72″ wide x 72″ long.  Most of the shower rods are being placed higher than usual these days and with a 72″ long shower curtain you will see over half of the white  porcelain tub.  This is not a great look.  Look how gorgeous the picture is with a full length custom made shower curtain that looks like it fits your bathroom.
People are looking at shower curtains as a drape, curtain or decorative panel that can add color and personality to your bathroom.  What makes it even nicer is that you can add a window treatment or window covering that matches or coordinates with your shower curtain and it is just stunning.
All of our shower curtains are custom made to order in one of our  1,200 fabrics.  You can have any size made and any fabric ranging from a solid shower curtain to a geometric shower curtain and anything in between.  We now offer all of the Waverly fabrics which can be done in a custom made shower curtain as well.  With over 3000 fabrics to select from in the Waverly fabric department, our selection is the BEST selection online!

Extra Long Shower Curtains

Here is a post from mydesignsecrets.com – We think it looks fabulous!!

We’ve just finished some master bathroom renovations (not our choice, the tub cracked). But it’s motivated me to step back and consider freshening up the space. I love my master bathroom. It’s not huge, but it has double sinks, a big tub and good water pressure…what more could a girl ask for? So we have this brand new tub and a new paint job and I look at the shower curtain and it’s just ho-hum.

Trouble is, my shower curtain rod is higher than most. A standard- height shower curtain (72″) looks like the pants I wore during my 3rd grade growth spurt. Now, I certainly could have my drapery workroom, whip me up a custom shower curtain, but that’s a bit a pricey. So I started looking online and I found a great source that not only makes custom-sized shower curtains (extra wide and extra long shower curtains) but also beautiful bedding and custom window treatments. It’s called FABRICworkroom.com. I like a company whose name says exactly what it does!

I’ll walk you through my shower curtain experience just to give you a glimpse of how easy their site is to use…

When you click on Shower Curtains, you get 3 options: Full Custom, Semi-Custom and Budget. Budget offers regular and long curtains, Semi-Custom offers the same but with more fabric options and Full Custom offers all of the previous options plus extra-wide options and a banded shower curtain. So if you are aiming for a certain price or style, you can start with those categories. Now if you first want to see the wide selection of fabrics before deciding on what you want to spend, then Fabric Browsing is the place to start.

If you choose Full Custom, there are over 1,500 fabrics to choose from. It just so happened that the fabrics I chose were in the Budget category which was a nice surprise! There are some really nice ones in there. I requested my free swatches and they arrived in about 3 days and they are a good size at 5″x7″. I priced out my 75″ long curtain and it came to only $133.19 and shipping is free on all custom products they make. This is a great deal and just about the cost of making a custom curtain…not including the fabric!

The curtain arrived sooner then they promised and it was neatly folder in a plastic zippered bag. When I unfolded it, I found nice clean sewing work, no random threads, and a well hidden seam. In short, a really professional job!

So if store-bought shower curtains don’t fit the bill or if you need a custom length or coordinating window treatment I can tell you first-hand that FabricWorkroom.com is a wonderful solution!

What is a Grommet?

Tuesday, May 8th, 2012

GrommetsA Grommet is a word we use a lot in the world of custom window treatments and shower curtains.  You may see the word often on our site and ask yourself, What is a Grommet?

Grommets are little metal rings on your shower curtains.  You will often see them on shoes and on clothes as well.  Grommets are simply used to reinforce the fabric that is around the hole.

We offer a Grommet curtain or Grommet Drape in our Drape department.  For these drapes, we use a large 1 9/16th inch diameter grommet.  For Our shower curtains, the typical grommet used is 3/8″ grommet, however you may opt to use a  larger one for a more contemporary look.  Below are pictures of our shower curtains using the different size Grommets.  You may also run the rod through the large drapes if you do not require a separate liner.

Shower Curtain – Selecting the Right Shower Décor

Tuesday, April 10th, 2012

Before you grab just another plain functional shower curtain, consider that this is the largest decorative feature in many bathrooms. The shower curtain takes up a whole wall in the average bathroom space. If you’re living in an apartment, you may not be able to paint or retile, so this curtain is the biggest statement you can make in your bathroom. The bathroom is functional, certainly, but you also spend a lot of time here getting ready for the day and unwinding at night. Choose a shower curtain that will make the space beautiful, comfortable and uniquely suited to you.

If you like to enjoy a good long soak in the bathtub, an elaborate shower curtain can give you extra privacy in this space. Instead of a single curtain, consider using two. When you bathe, you can use tie backs to hold them open on either side. This frames the tub beautifully and creates a nice little hideaway for bathing without the need to close the curtain entirely. If you want to hand double curtain rods, you can even achieve this look along with a single, traditional shower curtain on the inner rod for use when you take a shower.

For morning people who like a little pop of color to get the day going, a shower curtain in bold bright colors and patterns is just the thing. Channel the beach with shades of seaweed green, aquamarine and cobalt blue. You can use a curtain that features a beach scene itself, or go for a more subtle look with solid colors and geometric patterns in unmistakable beachy hues. Begin the day with a splash of cheer with a sunny yellow. Pair this color with crisp black and white for a look that’s both sophisticated and uplifting. Use your favorite colors in bold shades to start the day right.

For those who prefer to wake up slowly, a palette on the other end of the spectrum will work best. Look for a gauzy shower curtain in lavender or slate gray. Use quiet calming hues that make the space soothing and comfortable. Shower curtains certainly don’t need to be plastic as long as you have a liner beneath. Select a fabric that’s soft and flowing. Transform your bathroom into a spa with cool shades like blue that are naturally relaxing. Pile a basket of white rolled towels beside the tub, keep aromatherapy oils on hand and you’ll have a luxury retreat.

Shower Curtain Grommet

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

A shower grommet is a small 3/8″ metal that is “punched” into the shower curtain header to accommodate your shower hooks.  The hooks rest on your shower rod and slide on the rod for easy opening and closing.

The Shower curtain grommet can be ordered in nickel or bronze.

The other type of grommet is a larger and primarily used for drapery.  If you want the larger grommet for your shower curtain, you would have to order it from the drapery department and request it be unlined.  We recommend that you speak to our design department before ordering the large grommet.

Shower Curtain Liners

Tuesday, August 31st, 2010

When Ordering a custom size shower curtain it is important to make sure the shower curtain liners will match in size.  We make extra long shower curtain liners and shower curtains to fit all your needs.

  • When order a custom size shower curtain liner, it is recommended that you follow a couple of simple rules.  Click on the “Measuring” link below for instruction on how to measure.
  • Measure from the shower rod to the inside of the tub or shower stall
  • On a tub, take off a two or three inches.  You do not want the liner to puddle at the bottom of the tub.  This is a recipe for mold and mildew.
  • On a shower stall, measure to the bottom of the shower pan and take off a perhaps just an inch.  You want to make sure it overlaps the curb, but does not puddle.

Shower Curtain Button Hole

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

On a shower curtain, we use grommets or sewn button hole.  A shower curtain button hole is made by a machine that applies a heavy amount of thread around the button hole opening.  The extra thread strengthens the hole and gives it a nice finished look.
